On March 21, 2019, the Inaugural Fiduciary Awareness Day® event was held at The Whitley Hotel in Atlanta, Ga. In attendance were over 40 of the top retirement plan advisor from the Southeast. Opening remarks were given by Andy Cunningham, Founder of Fiduciary Awareness Day®. Andy set the stage by explaining the idea and purpose behind creating this annual event.
Speakers included Andy Larson of Retirement Learning Center, presented on Effective Plan Governance. Brett Shofner of Work Plan Retire, presented on “Increasing Advisor Value with an Evolving Consulting Model.” After a short break, Rick Unser, of Lockton Retirement Services and host of “401K Fridays” podcast shared his “Key Insights from over 100 Retirement Industry Leaders to Improve your 401(k) Practice”.
Nevin Adams of American Retirement Association was the keynote speaker and presented “What’s Up with Washington?” Adams recapped the event in an article published on NAPA Net.
The event concluded with the “Iron Sharpens Iron” Panel of Expert Advisors. Experts included Chad Pigg of Merrill Lynch, Greg Fiore of Clearview Advisory, and Ty Parrish of Cerity Partners. They shared their expertise on topics ranging from where they see innovation in the retirement plan space to how they differentiate their retirement plan practice.
